2025 Annual Hydrant Flushing
Beginning Monday, April 21, 2025
Hydrant flushing is the quick release of water from fire hydrants. It is a controlled procedure that is vital to the general maintenance of the district’s water distribution system. The process ensures adequate water flow is available to fire fighters, residents, and businesses. It also improves water quality by clearing iron and other mineral deposits from the watermains.

EPA Announces National Regulations for “Forever Chemicals” in Drinking Water
On April 10, 2024, the US EPA announced national regulations limiting the amount of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also referred to as “Forever Chemicals”, in drinking water. The new regulations will set a maximum contaminant level (MCL) for six of the widely known PFAS chemicals; PFOA, PFOS, PFHxS, PFNA, PFBS, and HFPO-DA (GenX).

Jefferson Water & Sewer District Receives $2.95 Million State Grant for Critical Water Infrastructure Upgrades
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — The Jefferson Water & Sewer District is one of 90 projects receiving state grants to address critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Ohio communities. In total, 64 counties will receive $135 million.
